Blood and urine tests can help investigate changes in appetite, thirst, weight, energy, urination and many other symptoms. They are also used to monitor ongoing conditions and medication.
Where appropriate, HomeVet can collect samples at your home and arrange laboratory analysis. Some tests or unstable patients still require a clinic, and we will advise you when that is safer.
What testing at home may involve
The veterinarian first takes a history and examines your pet. We then discuss which tests are likely to provide useful information and explain how samples will be collected.
Laboratory results usually arrive within a couple of days, excluding weekends, although specialist tests may take longer. We call you personally to provide a full breakdown of the results, explain what they mean and discuss any recommended treatment, monitoring or referral.
